The necessity of efficient tender locomotives for hilly local railways mainly in borderland forced CSD to make an order of new locomotives of a 524.1 class. The former six Bustehrad locomotives, manufactured by PCM in Prague in 1917-18, CSD marked as 524.101-06. The locomotive factories in Prague and Pilsen delivered next 123 engines (524.107-129) to CSD in 1926-1938. During the second world war the both of the locomotive factory delivered next improved locomotives 524.1130-139 and 524.1301-15 to CSD. At the same time it was delivered 8 locomotives of Slovakian Railways, which proceeded to the CSD and were marked as 524.1140-147. Many locomotives obtained Giesel ejector during the sixties`. The locomotives of a 524.13 class finished their service in 1973 and last classical "five-wheels`" in 1980. The locomotive 524.159 finished its service in the Presov depot in 1972 and then it was sold by CSD to Presov road authorities where it was placed by the tracks in Sariske Michalany as a stable heater boiler for heating-up of asphalt. KHKD gained the locomotive in 1990, after getting it into exhibited condition in 1998, it was loaned out to the Railway museum in Luzna u Rakovnika. In November 2017 the locomotive was transported to Siding Kněževes where it serves as a not working exhibit.
